It is also part of a seven-member coalition which funds breast cancer research in Canada.
Addressing the needs of Canadians from coast to coast, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation has regional offices in British Columbia/Yukon Territory, Prairies/NWT, Ontario and the Atlantic Region. The Foundation’s central shared services office is located in Toronto.
The signature program for the foundation is the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run For The Cure. The Run was created in 1992 by a small group of volunteers who wanted to raise awareness and funds for the cause. The first event took place in Toronto. Over 1,500 participants raised $85,000 that first year. Through the ongoing dedication of volunteers, this first Run has grown into Canada's largest single-day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to breast cancer research, education and awareness. In 2012, the CIBC Run for the Cure event raised a total of $30,951,651 CAD. This amount is down from 2011’s Run for the Cure which raised a total of $33,100,754 CAD.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.cbcf.org/central/AboutUsMain/Financials/Documents/CBCF-F12audited_financial_statement.pdf )
Other annual fundraising events include the Richie Mann Invitational, a golf tournament held in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. In 11 years, the event has contributed more than $500,000 to the Atlantic Region of the Foundation.
In 2004, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Prairies/NWT Region recognized that young people could make a significant contribution and have developed a Youth Advisory Council as a volunteer committee to provide a youth perspective on issues pertaining to fundraising, awareness, education and research.
